Wwe Raw 8/22/11

Welcome to WWE RAW for August 22nd 2011 from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada which features a huge main event between CM Punk and John Cena for the number one contendership for the WWE Championship at Night of Champions. Plus answers will be demanded from CM Punk as it applies to the events of WWE Summerslam and the WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio is in the house. Its WWE RAW for 8/22/11 and its right now.

WWE RAW 8/22/11

Alberto Del Rio makes his way out for a few words. Rey Mysterio is out with injuries, that are attributed to Del Rio but in

reality, he hurt himself weeks ago. John Cena comes out, to introduce himself to Del Rio as the person that’s going to take the WWE Championship off of his waist. Out comes CM Punk, who talks about how he feels like he stepped into a RAW re-run with Cena asking for a title shot. The man has a point. Punk has a problem with a lot of people, Nash, Del Rio, Triple H, and even Jack Tunney. Now there’s a name that went over a lot of fans heads. Punk wants a rematch, he has a rematch clause but Cena wants one as well. Triple H makes his way out to announce tonight’s number one contenders match between Punk and Cena. I get on TNA for this, so I have to do so for WWE, why would you put such a match, never mind on free television, but free television with no build. If you announced Punk and Cena a week ago or for next week, you would have gotten some extra eyeballs on the screen to see what happened.

Alberto Del Rio made John Morrison submit to the Cross Armbreaker.

An amazing little match between these two men. Rather exciting, with the Starship Pain missing but Morrison lands on his feet. Then he gets slammed into the ringpost and put in the Cross Armbreaker. If WWE plays their cards right, this could be a potential Pay Per View title match.

Kelly Kelly pinned Nikki Bella

By the numbers diva’s match. Kelly Kelly wins and Beth Phoenix and Natalya watch from the ramp. Just kind of lackluster but not bad.

Kevin Nash is in the house backstage.

Alex Riley defeated Jack Swagger

As per last week on the show, Vickie Guerrero is managing Jack Swagger. And Dolph Ziggler is none too happy about it. Great, just what I wanted to see, a feud between the two lamest, most uninspiring former World Heavyweight Champions ever. Ziggler accidentally strikes Vickie in an argument, which distracts Swagger, and Riley rolls him up for the pin.

Out comes Triple H to have a chit chat with Kevin Nash. Triple H denies ever sending a text message to Kevin Nash at Summerslam. Triple H says that Nash doesn’t work here and thus there will be no battle with Punk. Fight him elsewhere but not in WWE. Out comes CM Punk, who suggests that it might have been Nash, Triple H, or even Stephanie McMahon who sent the text. Punk remarks that he’s all about crossing lines, something Nash knows about all too well. Punk tries to go after Nash but no dice. Then Punk remarks that Triple H keeps his balls in his wife’s purse. Ouch. Nash nails Punk with a cheapshot and the fans are going nuts. Quite the segment right here.

Triple H is backstage, saying that Nash can’t assault WWE employees. Nash says that Triple H has changed. It’s like a teenage boy telling his

father that he’s no longer cool.

Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston defeated Michael McGillicuty and David Otunga to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

Thought this would happen at Night of Champions to be honest with you but we’ll likely going to have a return match. The crowd was apathetic to this match and technically speaking, it was not that bad, but the Nexus are now like when the NWO consisted of Stevie Ray, Vincent, and Horace Hogan. Bourne hits the Air Bourne for the pin, new tag team champions.

The new champions are celebrating with Zack Ryder but enough about that, Kevin Nash has been in a car accident, according to the Executive Vice Stooge himself, John Laurinaitis. Triple H rushes off. The plot thickens.

Santino Marella comes out but gets jumped by R-Truth and the Miz. Both men are not happy with being overlooked as of late. The crowd goes “WHAT” a lot. A pretty good fired up promo, with Miz and R-Truth both vowing to not wait for an opportunity, but take them.

John Cena pinned CM Punk to become the number one contender to the WWE Championship for Night of Champions.

Alberto Del Rio and John Laurinaitis are both watching this match closely. Not on par with their Pay Per View encounters but still an amazing match. Lots of drama to be had in this match and it would have been more so, if the finish had not been in little doubt. CM Punk goes for the Macho Man Elbow Drop during this match as well but sadly does not connect. The end came when Punk had the GTS set up but Kevin Nash walked down to the ring, having not been in a car accident at all. This distracted Punk and Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment to pick up the number one contendership for Alberto Del Rio at Night of Champions.

Alberto Del Rio swoops in and punks Cena. Cena goes down and Del Rio works over Cena, as John Laurinaitis tries to make the save but fails. Cena is hurt.

Why You Should Watch WWE RAW 8/22/11

Alberto Del Rio vs. John Morrison and CM Punk vs. John Cena were rather great battles. Also the Miz and R-Truth promo. There was some rather horrid stuff in the middle but overall a pretty entertaining on RAW for August 22nd 2011
