Wwe Raw 7/18/11

Welcome to WWE RAW for July 18th 2011, the first show at Money in the Bank, which was quite the night to say the very least. The road to Summerslam kicks into high gear, with WWE RAW for July 18th 2011.

WWE RAW 7/18/11

Vince McMahon is out to kick off of the show, with his stooge John Laurinaitis. Yes that's right, I said it, his stooge. Oh dear Zod, Vince's suit, it has to be seen to be believed. The wrestlers are watching backstage. Vince talks about last night, disgusted at what Punk did and how Punk's name will never be

mentioned again. No one is better, no one is bigger than WWE. Like Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, the list goes on. I can go on, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo, see where I'm going with this one? Tonight there is going to be a tournament to crown a new WWE Champion, so says Vince. The matches are as follows:

Dolph Ziggler vs Rey Mysterio

Jack Swagger vs R-Truth

Alberto Del Rio vs Kofi Kingston

The Miz vs Alex Riley.

John Cena is not in the tournament because he let the WWE Universe down according to Vince McMahon. Vince says that he warned Cena and now tonight there will be severe consequences for Cena's failure. On Twitter, Cena already announced his future endeavors.

The Miz defeated Alex Riley in the first round of the WWE Championship Tournament.

A rather passable five minute match. The Miz was really banged up from last night, with a knee injury. Riley manages to survive an early Skull Finale. Texas Cloverleaf is applied but the Miz gets to the ropes, favoring his leg. He manages to catch Riley and Skull Crushing Finale, with Miz scoring the pin. He will face the winner of Kofi Kingston and Alberto Del Rio.

John Morrison is coming back soon. That's good news.

R-Truth pinned Jack Swagger in the first round of the WWE Championship Tournament.

Well if any of you thought that Swagger was going to win, well sorry, but you're an idiot. R-Truth played a face. Not exactly a complete squash, with Swagger nearly finishing off R-Truth with a Vader Bomb. Axe Kick is avoided and Swagger goes to clinch on the Ankle Lock but rolling through by Truth for the pin. R-Truth advances to the semifinals to face the winner of Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler.

Alberto Del Rio is really excited. He's Mr. Money in the Bank and making his triumphant return to Monday Night RAW, Ricardo Rodiguez. YAY!

Kofi Kingston pinned Alberto Del Rio in the first round of the WWE Championship Tournament.

A rather decent little match. An insane dive to the floor by Kofi but Alberto really beat on Kofi, enzugiri sets up an extended chinlock. Kofi fights out and Boom Drop misses. Tilt a whirl backbreaker stuns Kofi Kingston for a two count. Cross Armbreaker applied and Del Rio cranks on the hold, but Kofi manages to counter, as Del Rio is a bit too cocky for his own good. Kofi Kingston scores a shocking win! Had no problem, as Alberto has a Money in the Bank contract, so he can just punk the tournament winner if he chooses. He will face Miz is the Semifinals.

Kofi is excited and will win the title.

Rey Mysterio pinned Dolph Ziggler in the first round of the WWE Championship Tournament.

Don't know what happened with one as it was not one of their better matches. A pretty acceptable match but not good. This is what happens when you try and fit an eight man tournament in a single show. First 6-1-9 is blocked but Rey comes back with a second 6-1-9 and he hits a splash for the pin. Rey is to face R-Truth in the Semifinals of the WWE Championship Tournament.

Vince McMahon is backstage with his stooge talking about the tournament.

AJ, Beth Phoenix, Eve Torres,

Gail Kim, Kaitlyn, Kelly Kelly, and Natalya defeated Alicia Fox, The Bella Twins, Maryse, Rosa Mendes, and Tamina.

A fourteen women one minute diva's match. Talk about the utter definition of absurd.Beth pinned Rosa to score the pin. Again, what the hell was this? Not even bothered to make a graphic for this one. These random, one minute matches with all of the diva's need to stop.

The Miz defeated Kofi Kingston in the Semifinals of the WWE Championship Tournament

Rushed stuff right here. Again the perils of putting an eight man WWE Championship tournament in one show. Trouble in Paradise knocks the Miz to the ring apron, but Miz recovers and hits the Skull Crushing Finale. A mish mash of a three minute match right now.

R-Truth cuts a promo, talking about how the Little Jimmys better close their eyes because the belt is going to get got.

Rey Mysterio pinned R-Truth in the Semifinals of the WWE Championship Tournament.

A longer match between these two men but a lot of stalling. A shame because a match between these two given about twelve minutes could be interesting. 6-1-9 by Rey sets up the big splash for the pin and its Miz versus Rey in the finals of the tournament.

Out comes Vince McMahon afterward in his fabulous suit. Lack of time mandates that the title match is going to be post-poned until next week on this show. Vince reminds us that no one is going to be bigger than this company and this includes John Cena. The fans will thank him later for this and out comes John Cena. Cena talks about how he wasn't going to go down as the guy who screwed CM Punk. Cena talks about the match with the Rock, saying that since Vince is firing him, he has eight months to find a new opponent for the Rock that the fans are going to be excited by. Cena says that if Vince fires him, he'll just show up on someone else's televison...brother. Ooooh. Vince is about ready to do the deed.

It's time to play the game!

Out walks Triple H in a suit to make an announcement. The Board of Directors in WWE have been looking at some of Vince's more questionable decisions as of late. There was a vote of no confidence and the Board has agreed to appoint someone for the day to day operations and that someone is Triple H! Triple H is the new boss in WWE and John Cena is not fired. I knew they couldn't go a whole week without John Cena. But then again, so did everyone else. Vince McMahon has been put out to pasture. The fans chant "thank you Vince" and Triple H steps out, the new man in charge. Obviously a storyline, for now, but life will imitate art before too long.

Thoughts on the Show: A mish mash tournament but the ending storyline was pretty good. The 7/18/11 RAW was a solid little effort for sure.
