WWE RAW on September 24th 2012 featured John Cena updating us on his injury, plus an exclusive interview with Jerry Lawler on his condition after his heart attack two weeks ago.
Quick WWE RAW Results 9/24/12 are Dolph Ziggler pinned Kofi Kingston with the Zig Zag. The Prime Time Players defeated Zack Ryder and Santino Marella. Ryback pinned The Miz in a non-title match. Wade Barrett pinned Tyson Kidd with the Souvenir. Sheamus, Sin Cara, and Rey Mysterio defeated Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga, and Ricardo Rodiguez. Beth Phoenix and Eve defeated Alicia Fox and Layla. Brodus Clay battled Tensai toa no contest when the Big Show interfered. The full report is below.
CM Punk and Paul Heyman kick off the show. The referee, played by former FCW competitor Brad Maddox, comes to the ring. He was hired by A.J. when RAW expanded to three hours. Here comes A.J., and Heyman and Punk make some comments about her. Which gets Heyman slapped hard, but it’s not like Paul Heyman getting slapped by a woman is new ground.
Jerry Lawler will have an interview after his heart attack.
Dolph Ziggler picked up the win over Kofi Kingston. These two have had many matches in the past and this was another chapter in that storied history. Kofi misses a charge in the corner, and Ziggler hits the Zig Zag for the pin.
We have some therapy, where we are at a diner. Dr. Shelby and Daniel Bryan are eating dinner. Kane is a restaurant. Daniel Bryan offers some food, and mocks Kane. Kane takes a shot at Daniel Bryan’s beard, saying a cook chopped it up and deep fried it. I wonder what I’m watching.
The Prime Time Players pick up the win over Zack Ryder and Santino Marella. Santino loads up the Cobra, but Titus catches him. Clash of the Titus got the pin. A fairly decent little tag team match, but it was really nothing special.
Mick Foley is out to have some words. He suggests CM Punk stop listening to Paul Heyman, and Punk should make a challenge to John Cena for a Hell in a Cell Match.
Ryback defeats the WWE Intercontinental Champion the Miz in a non-title match. Miz is nothing but a designated squash victim tonight. Ryback destroys him.
Daniel Bryan and Kane get more therapy, and Mae Young shows up.
A.J. makes Alberto Del Rio, Ricardo Rodiguez, and David Otunga against Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, and Sin Cara.
Wade Barrett picked up the win over Tyson Kidd. The comeback trail for Wade Barrett continues, with Kidd putting in some offense. However, Barrett’s Roaring Elbow he calls the Souvenir picks up the win.
Jerry Lawler cuts a promo, thanking everyone for their support. Lawler will beback when he’s cleared. Best of wishes to him for the fullest recovery, and hopefully he will make a comeback to the booth, but only when the time is right.
Sheamus, Sin Cara, and Rey Mysterio defeated Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga, and Ricardo Rodiguez. Six man tags always entertain here on RAW. Ricardo is left in the ring for a beating at the end. 6-1-9 sets up a Sin Cara senton for the pin. Sheamus then blasts Otunga with the Brogue Kick after the match. Not quite on the level of Stone Cold and the Stunner back in the Attitude Era, but it’s still a crowd pleaser.
Kane, Daniel Bryan, and Dr. Shelby role play, which sounds wrong. Daniel Bryan pitches meat balls and Kane continues to be great.
Daniel Bryan and Kane…Team Hell No, which might be up there with Beer Money as far as awesome tag team names go, are out. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes beat them up. They are the Rhodes Scholars which is another good tag team name. A good segment, I enjoyed it.
Eve and Beth Phoenix defeated Layla and Alicia Fox. The divas are on RAW. Eve wins with a neckbreaker. Kaitlyn is out to accuse Eve for the attack at Night of Champions, but Eve accuses Beth and lays her out.
Brodus Clay and Tensai battled to a no contest when the Big Show returned and knocked out both men. This was so gloriously random that I’m going to just move on.
The Big Show against Randy Orton will be on Smackdown.
Here comes John Cena, who talks about CM Punk. Despite his injury, Cena will be at Hell in a Cell. Punk says that John Cena should be a politician. That was a good line. Punk offers Cena a five count to leave. Ernest “The Cat” Miller would approve. Cena has a pipe, and nailed Punk with it. Punk leaves, but Mick Foley is out. Punk beats down Mick, but runs into Ryback. So, we’ll have Cena against Punk again.
This was a weird show. See you next week for more I guess.
