Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 48 Leatherhead Terror of the Swamp Review
The following review contains spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 48 Leatherhead Terror of the Swamp.
TheTurtles take a trip down memory lane, about their old friends, the Punk Frogs. Meanwhile in Florida, a man and his son go gator hunting, looking for the biggest, most nasty gator of them all, Leatherhead. Leatherhead finds them first and runs them off and then mutates.
The newly mutated Leatherhead chases around the Frogs, and manages to capture them after a short fight, making them his slaves. The Frogs decide that they are way in over their heads and call the Turtles. Meanwhile, Shredder and Krang see Leatherhead in the swamp and Krang sends Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady to enlist the help of the nasty mutant.
The Turtles join April in Florida, with Irma who was on vacation with April, running off at the thought of Frogs. Leatherhead captures the Turtles and April, but the tables were turned, and Leatherhead is the one captured. Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady follow the group from a distance, and Leatherhead tricks them into walking into quicksand. Shredder saves Leatherhead and they walk off, leaving the Turtles, Frogs, and April to their dooms.
However, our heroes free themselves and Michelangelo jumps right into a pool, which has been tainted by mutagen, turning it into
The Turtles and the Frogs part ways, but not before Mike gets caught in a trap. As Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady are amused at Shredder's plight.
This is the first appearance of Leatherhead, I guarantee. Leatherhead is a rather prominent menace and the Frogs aren't completely useless yet in this episode, so it really does put over how dangerous Leatherhead is. And rather crafty, as he traps both them and the Turtles.
Interplay with the villains was the best. Especially after Shredder was turned into a baby. Krang telling Shredder that he's been telling him to grow up for years was spot on.
Sadly, alternate voice actor for Shredder and Donatello and Bebop as well. But the quality of this episode offset that sort of.
Blindly trusting a villain will get you sunk right in quick sand more often than not. The Turtles were dopes with following for as Leatherhead said, the oldest trick in the swamp.
Fun action and interaction between the characters make this a fun episode.
