Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 40 Return of the Fly Review
As always there will be spoilers, so be warned forTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 3 Episode 22 Return of the Fly.
Master Splinter and Shredder both sense a presence, which is Baxter Stockman, the Fly, who has been cast in dimensional limbo. A jolt of energy causes Baxter to rematerialized right on Earth and plot his plan, to get revenge on his hated enemies, the Turtles, along with Shredder. The plan is to kidnap April O'Neil as bait to lure the Turtles, who will be used to lure Shredder as bait.
As April is kidnapped, Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady are getting water for the Technodrome which is low on power. They find Baxter, who Shredder manages to subdue and convince the mutant fly that he always looked upon Baxter as a son, albeit a weird looking one. Shredder agrees to turn Baxter back to his normal self, in exchange for his help of destroying the Turtles.
April is found by the Turtles, who really get the help of an unexpected foe, in the Rat King, as Baxter, Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady show up. The Turtles are nearly gassed, but Michelangelo manages to shut off the gas. Rocksteady and Bebop squabble, causing a series of events that causes the plans to be foiled and Baxter
The villains get away, as Baxter breaks free, sick and tired of all of the cracks at his inhumane form of a fly. Shredder muses that this will not be the last that we see of Baxter.
Some nice continuity was exhibited after the previous Baxter Stockman episode. In that episode, April was knocked out due to be poisoned by the Doku Plant, so obvious she would not know that Baxter was now a fly.
Shredder is quite the master manipulator right on this episode, managing to trick Baxter into teaming up with him once again. This wouldn't be the last time. It was a well played moment when the fly managed to crack at all of the cracks and vow his revenge. When he shows up in his next episode, he is more revenge happy then ever before.
Once again the antics of the villains took center stage, although the bit at the end with Michelangelo cringing at the ice was a rather great moment for sure.
Bebop and Rocksteady are always a treat to say the very least. Their attempts to improve themselves, well played but obviously Shredder is in control and thus they never will be. And their tempers will get the better of them.
