The environment and how to save it has been a hot topic for many years. Many individual have talked about what they could do to save the environment. About endangered species, global warming, and energy conservation, along with everything that goes along with that. It has been area where there has been talk but the action has been lacking. The real problem is that many people are not willing to disrupt the status quo of life, unless they see that it will make a different. Yet, there are any number of environmental friendly things that might seem insignificant but theyadd up after a small amount of time.
The thing that many people do not realize is that they can help the environment, while also helping themselves or more importantly, their own budget. There are so many things that we do that waste many, that also hurt the environment. So it is a win-win situation for us and while we might not change the world over night, every little bit helps.
Plus sometimes a revolution does start with a single step done by someone.
So what are some environmental friendly tips that can save you some money while also helping the environment. Two important causes all rolled right into one.
One of the easiest things yet hardest things to do is rather tend to remember to turn out the lights before you leave the room. It doesn't seem like much but every little thing does help. Also in a related note, take a look at the light bulbs that you are using. Many of the cheaper bulbs burn out faster, you have to replace them more often, and they contribute to more waste. Not to mention a strain on your pocket book. So keep that in mind as well.
Running too much water is rather something that is a problem as well. Leaving the water running too long while brushing your teeth, doing the dishes, or taking a shower. One of the worst things you can do in regards of running water, is to answer the phone and just leave the water running, as you talk away. Also do take a bath when you can as opposedto a standard shower, as showers will waste more water than a bath.
Recycling items is something that might seem like a chore, but paper, plastics, cans, glass, and anything else reusable is something that can be done. You should not even bother setting them out on the street however. Most garbage companies should keep those items separate but in reality they don't care and thus they all dump it. Just take it straight to the recycling center. Some offer a small monetary amount for the bottles and cans you will bring in.
Here is the biggest sacrifice that you will ever make in the name of being environmentally friendly. Stop relying on driving to places so much. There are many people who get in their car and they really drive. Obviously they have somewhere that they need to go, but really, ask yourself two questions.
1)Can I just as easily make this trip by walking?
2) Do I really need to go to this place?
Fuel shortages is one of the biggest problems that might not be solved for some time. An alternate energy source will catch on and catch on with the general population. The rising prices of gasoline are something that is causing people to take a long hard look about what they are doing? Granted, not enough, but the gasoline as of this writing is raising around $4.00 per gallon and we might get to the levels of close to $5.00 within the next couple of years.
Plus if you fall under the Global Warming crowd, the emissions are rather harmful and cause problems with the environment.
The ills of the environment are not going to be cured. One may argue that the damage has been long since done. However, every little bit can and will help. Plus if anything else, if it saves you some money, then go for it.
