Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 15 459

To celebrate Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Season 2 starting on Disney XD on April 1st 2012, I will be going through and reviewing all of the episodes in Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Season 1. Next on the pile is Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 15 459. In this episode, the Earth is in the center of an intergalactic war between the Kree and Skrull empires and a bomb is released by a Kree Sentry that threatens to vaporize the Earth. The only one who can help the avengers is Captain Mar-Vell from the Kree Empire. Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode

15 459 first aired on December 12th 2010.

Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 15 459

I have a really big issue with an episode name being a number because a name is easier to recall than a number, while a number just makes me struggle to recall the episode off hand. But that is just merely a really big personal nitpick of mine.

So…yeah this episode. Well I think this episode will actually have a lot more meaning in the second season of the Avengers. So I did enjoy it a little bit more, because I know we’re going to have a second season of the Avengers. Leaving a dangling subplot on a super hero cartoon unless you have another season signed on paper is the biggest no-no you can do these days as far as I’m concerned. But you got to feel for people behind the shows, knowing that they have to leave stuff for later, but knowing that another season is not guaranteed.

The Kree is checking out the Earth because it is a strategic location with their war with the Skrulls. Captain Mar-Vell of the Kree is trying to cloak an observatory so it is not something that invites the Kree. Unfortunately, Wasp, Ant-Man, and Carol Danvers engage a Kree Sentry in battle, so humanity is branded as a hostile species. Which we kind of are.

This was so very much a setup episode

for things to come. Some decent enough action and characterization always was a part of this episode. And Hulk was always a highlight in this episode, his non-concern about the nega-bomb going off and Thor’s reaction to it.

And there was this subplot between Wasp and Ant Man which I kind of was irritated by I’ll admit when this episode first aired and now…I’m just indifferent towards. Any kind of romance in a super hero cartoon is a tough road to travel, because there are certain clichés that would annoy long term fan boys and if this episode didn’t hit a couple of them.

This episode ends with Carol Danvers floating in midair and asking why the ceiling is so low, so you know Ms. Marvel is coming.

And this episode, not bad. I’ll give it a 5.5/10. I think that judging it on the context of all of the episodes in this season so far, there was just something about it that came across a little rushed and obviously one might argue it got stuck in as a nice juicy teaser for a storyline that will take place during the second season. Regardless, it’s not necessarily a bad episode, but most certainly this episode is not my favorite episode. Perhaps it might have been better served to be a two part episode.

Regardless, you can watch Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 15 459 on Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Volume 3 DVD and don’t forget to watch Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Season 2 on Disney XD starting on April 1st 2012.
